Backpack Spraying
Some work has to be done a stem at a time. Spots, edges, buffers and small acreage are cheaper by hand than by machine.
Not every vegetation problem is an acreage problem. A scattered patch of hardwood, a fence line closing in, the edge of a food plot, the ground around a streamside buffer — that is hand work, and trying to solve it with a boom costs more and hits things it should not.
Backpack work is slower per acre and more exact per stem. Where the target is scattered or sitting next to something that must not be touched, exact is what you want.
It is also the right tool for cleaning up after a broader treatment — the stems that came back, or the corner an aircraft could not reach.
What we look at on the tract
- What the target stems are, and how scattered across the area they sit
- What is next to them that has to come through untouched
- Terrain and whether the ground can be walked safely and thoroughly
- Size of the area, and where the line falls between hand work and a rig
- Water, buffers and boundaries inside the work area
- Whether this is follow-up on a previous treatment or the treatment itself
How the work runs
Hand work is priced on what it actually takes to cover the area, in writing, before it starts. If the area is big enough that a rig or an aerial pass would be cheaper, you will be told that instead.
Herbicides are mixed on site. The work area and the exclusions are walked and agreed first, and someone accountable is on the ground with the crew while the work runs.

We walk the tract and record what is actually growing there — species, conditions, access and the timing the site allows.

Prescribe
You get treatment options with the tradeoffs explained, and firm pricing in writing before anything is committed.

Prepare
Products, equipment and crews are lined up for the window we agreed on, and herbicides are mixed on site.

Supervise
Someone accountable is on site while the work runs, confirming treatment areas and answering questions as conditions change.
